Stop Doing the Same Things That Kept You Where You Are

This article is from my January 2024 newsletter.

I hope the articles and thoughts in this month's newsletter inspire you to renew and reinvigorate your 2024 job search. Especially if you have been unemployed for quite a while, I want you to gain support, persevere, and consider changing what you've been doing.

  • If you aren't sure what you want to do for work, complete a professional assessment. Work from the inside out!

  • If applying online is your main strategy, do more networking.

  • If you are nervous about networking, join a networking group.

  • If you have trouble staying focused and completing goals, find an accountability buddy.

  • If you are using the same resume for all your applications, start customizing it for each application.

  • If you land an interview, but are never invited back for the further rounds, start practice interviewing.

  • If you make it through multiple rounds of interviews and eliminated near the end of the process (coming in second or third), write a thank you note; ask what the skill, qualification, or trait the other person had that gave them the edge.

There are no guarantees for any of us. Some prospects don't select me. Many employers won't choose you. All we can do is focus on the proven methods of finding leads and landing the interview and job.

And when you land, it will feel so sweet.

Just today, I received messages from an out of Massachusetts client that took a chance on hiring me just before their big interview.

I GOT THE JOB!!! AND it's a PROMOTION!! Thank You So Much Ed! I shall be promoting your services on my social media!…Yes and all thanks to your coaching program!! It literally changed my life and it getting me away from an abusive boss! Your saved my life!

What an awesome way for client and coach to end the year.

I hope you shall experience the same feeling in 2024.

Happy New Year!
